Sarah & Steve's Rustic Wedding at The Old Vicarage
Sarah & Steve got married at The Old Vicarage in Elkersley, Retford. This is a wonderful, relaxed venue with a stream running right through the grounds. As soon as I arrived to photograph the day, I fell in love with this quirky venue!
Read on to see what Sarah & Steve say about their day....
What was the best part of your day?
There was so much to choose from!
The weather for one, as it was finally on our side so we got to have the perfect outdoor ceremony (minus the aircraft), we couldn't have asked for much better - we loved the bubble exit!
Having my dad walk me down the aisle and getting that first dance with him
The dress reveal to the bridal party
Seeing the most important people in our lives all together
Why did you choose your wedding venue
We had the freedoms to do exactly what we wanted, there were no restrictions. We thought the location that we chose was simply beautiful. Not many people have a stream running through their venue.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme?
We fell in love with the beauty of the venue, and it's surroundings. It was very rustic, which is what we both wanted when we first set out choosing venues. We also wanted to include lots of family fun moments as we have our own children and wanted them to have a great day, which is why we chose the ice cream bike, bubble exit and bucking Broncho. It was also a bonus that the stream was shallow and clear enough to paddle in and there was an onsite park. We changed our original colour scheme once Steve chose his suit, which is why we added blush pink accents to the decor. We wanted things simple, and modern.
If you could do it all over again, is there anything you would change / do differently?
I would have made sure someone had moved all of the glass jar candles off of the book signing table as people didn't know it was there...
BUT, other than that... Nope! It was perfect, even with all the little imperfections along the way
What advice would you give to other couples when planning their Wedding?
When planning a budget, try to out away a but more, because there's always something extra that someone wants to charge you for.
Talk things through with your partner to ensure that you're both happy with the choices made, if one of you isn't, be honest, it's both your big day after all. Your ideas will change as you go along, so don't be afraid to veer off course.
If your two year old wants to fuck shit up, he will fuck shit up, regardless of whether it's your wedding day or not.
Is there anything else you'd like to say about your wedding?
There are always going to be moments in the day that you are afraid of, whether it be the speeches, the first dance, being on time for the ceremony. Just remember, that although those moments do form part of the day, they aren't the reason your guests have attended. They are there to see two people who they care about make commitments to each other. Everything you're fretting over will be forgotten by them, thanks to the alcohol!
