Frankie and Leigh got married this summer at the gorgeous Cusworth Hall, which is an old grade 1 listed, country house in Cusworth, near Doncaster. It was a beautiful day and the sun shone all day long! They then had their after-party at Diamond Lounge in Doncaster town centre. The couple purposefully decided not to get in to debt for their big day - so decided to book their wedding on an off-peak day. Leigh says 'We booked our wedding for a Thursday as it saved us thousands and we were overwhelmed by how many of our friends and family made such an effort to get it off work. We even had a family member who was in the forces, who managed to get leave and come all the way back from Cyprus'.

The couple met at school and have been together for 9 years. We started a mortgage together in June 2016 and shortly after got our puppy Zeus, in October that year too.  They have been together 9 years ( high school sweethearts ) and  met via the brides sister, and as the bride says playfully,  'all hung around the streets in a big gang after school. getting up to no good'. The couple don't yet have kids, but say they plan to start a family in the next couple of years after they have finished partying at all their friends and families up-coming weddings. The couple say 'Our favourite people are definitely our parents as they really can not do enough to help us! So generous and caring! We planned and paid for our wedding in just 5 months and wouldn't of been able to do it without our family helping shop for plants, suits and decorate old food jars!'. The Groom even had his Dad as best man. This wedding was a real family affair.

The excitement before the wedding

Frankie got his hair done at Anarchy in Doncaster town centre, which is a quirky, little hair salon that I had never been in before. He then went home to get dressed. There are a certain number of things I look for during the Grooms prep, including The Suit Hanging up, the shoes, cuff links & tie, any written paper work, e.g speeches to be given, obviously the rings as well as general action shots of what is going on. The couple had also requested a photo of their dog, with the rings too - as the dog had an important role to play in the days proceedings. Once ready the groom went to the Eagle & Child pub in Auckley to meet the guests. The atmosphere was full of excitement as the guests prepared to alight the wedding bus to travel to Cusworth. I had a second shooter to capture the action for the groom prep & Eagle as it was impossible for me to in all 4 places where the prep took place, at once! This is the beauty of hiring a second shooter for your day.  I then edit all images, and blend them together to make the photos run seemlessly together.

Leigh got ready in town, firstly getting her hair done at Raffles Hair Salon, before moving on to get her make up done above the Georgian Tea Rooms. She then went to the Grooms parents house for her final prep. I look for things like any Congratulation cards / gifts given by friends & family, the dress hanging up, inc any special detailing , the shoes, the underwear / garter, the special items that are old, borrowed, new, blue, the flowers, both the Brides Bouquet &  the Bridesmaids flowers as well as all the action such as the  Bride having her hair & Make up done, the Bridesmaids helping bride with dress & the bride with her dad, or in this case both dads! She calls one Dad & one Father, so as not to get confused!

The ceremony

The couple chose Cusworth Hall for their ceremony because it is a local beauty spot, with amazing grounds. Leigh says 'We choose Cusworth Hall mainly because it is beautiful but we aren't really religious so just felt wrong to get married in a church. Amazingly Cusworth allowed us to have our dog as the ring bearer which was just amazing to have him there on our special day!'. Zeus, the couples dog, did not fail to make everyone smile as he trotted up the aisle, with the rings in a pouch around his neck!

The reception

The reception was  at Diamond Lounge, which they chose because 'the pricing was just to good not to', as Leigh says. The inside of the venue is stunning as it is a converted church & has the most amazing stain glass window. Leigh says 'The venue bent over backwards to please me. All the chair covers were included in the price.  We did do our own centre piece's but we literally dropped everything off the day before and Beckie set everything up perfectly for me on the day!'. Our theme was rustic we had a lot of greenery, logs and hessian / lace. I really loved all the decorated jars with candles in them! The decor couldn't have gone better! I was in love with my top table!

For dinner the couple put on a high tea of sandwiches, cream buns & nibbles. After the speeches, I took the guests outside for some fun portraits on the greenery, before starting with my secret message photos, where I ask the guests to write a message to the bride & groom on A chalkboard and hold it up for the camera. In the evening, the couple had a live singer, who was amazing and even peformed the song for their first dance. Leigh says  'I don't know if I could pin point a favourite part of the day it was all amazing, but  'Having my dog as ring bearer was definitely a highlight!'. She also says  'I also loved my first dance! We had a live singer James Sunderland singing a cover of Amazed - Lonestar and it really was just perfect!'.

Details of the day.

Dress: Leigh's dress was from Wed2be in Rotherham. She ended up buying a dress that she saw a lot of potential in and took it to a seamstress, who altered it completely to be her dream dress.  The bridesmaids dresses were from Asos, and Leigh says they were a real Bargain.

Suit: The Groomsmens suits were from Suits Direct at Lakeside, Doncaster. As you can see for the photos, they all looked extremely dapper on the big day.

Flowers: Leigh says 'I got an impressive discount for buying g a large quantity Flowers from The Flower Basket in Armthorpe. They were fab! I shopped around and they were the cheapest by a mile and everything ran really smoothly on the day'

Cake: About the cake, Leigh says 'Again, we shopped around and they were the best deal! As I wanted a naked cake (not much icing covering the bare cake), they explained it would be rather dry to eat, so they they did me a deal where they gave me 3 cutting cakes that were to stay in the kitchen purely just to eat! They were sooo yummy!'

Bus:  The Bus was hired through The Yorkshire Heritage Bus Company and Leigh says they were really easy to deal with. The couple say having the bus made the day run a lot smoother.

Advice for other couples....

The couple say that if you’re planning your wedding, the biggest piece of advice they could give to other couples would be that you don't have to spend thousands to have an amazing day! They say 'It isn't worth getting into debt over! We had a budget wedding but it still looked amazing! As you can see how goofy my face is in all of the photos I had the most amazing day and I don't think it would of mattered where I was as long as I had my nearest and dearest around me and I was marrying my best friend! It is risky choosing your date in England and the weather is a gamble no matter what but it was crazy hot on our day and not going to lie I can't really even remember the getting married part as I was just concentrating on not melting'.

Frankie and Leigh’s wedding just proves you don't have to break the bank to have the perfect day. Here’s a selection of images from their fabulous wedding.
