Kylie got ready at her bridesmaids house, who is also Lee's sister, with her other adult bridesmaids and the kids, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. There were lots of tears during the morning, which I love as I do love to capture raw emotion. The bride then rode a fancy wedding car to get to the ceremony. Unfortunately, they had forgotten the wedding rings, so the bridesmaid had to make a mad dash home to collect them. Luckily, she only lives less than 10 mins away from the Church! Lee got ready at his parents house. When I got there, he was chilling with his Dad over a cuppa. He travelled to the ceremony with his best man, who is also his brother. Unfortunately, it did start to rain as the guests started to arrive. but this didn't spoil the excitement of the day.
The ceremony was a beautiful service in the stunning Church. During the ceremony they had a couple of beautiful readings from friends and family. It was such a personal service and a real tear-jerker.
The reception was at the fabulous West Retford Hotel. T The Batman / floral theme was amazing. I love shooting quirky weddings because it is fun to capture all the little details, such as the back of their beautiful wedding cake, which had the complete Bat cave carved into it. They had a 3 course sit down meal in the afternoon, and a photobooth in the evening. For dinner they had a roast dinner, which was absolutely delicious. The first dance was to Ed Sheeran, and I finished off their coverage with them cutting their fabulous Batman cake. I then left them all to get merry, without a camera capturing their every move!
The best part of the day was when it stopped bucketing it down long enough for me to get up the fire escape to take a heart shaped group photo from the top. I also took the bride & groom outside for photos, with my big red umbrella while it was drizzling a bit too, but I do not mind getting wet to get the perfect photo!
Venue: https://www.westretfordhotel.co.uk/ They chose West Retford because they were already in love with the place, after their best friends wedding a few years prior. It was where they always wanted to have their wedding.
Dress: http://www.jdezire.co.uk/ Kylie's beautiful & unusual wedding gown was from jdezire in Lincoln. The adult bridesmaids dresses were from ASOS and the younger girls dresses were from jj’s house. The 4 little dresses were altered by a lovely woman called Sue and the Grooms mother, Gillian.
Cake: http://www.cbcakes.co.uk/ This cake had to be seen to be believed, as it included a full replica Bat Cave, complete with dangling bats!
Decor: http://www.keithwoodsweddingsandevents.co.uk/ The room looked truly beautiful. The floral decorations, chair covers and centre pieces transformed the room into a magical woodland with a hint of Bat man!
Photobooth: https://magicimages.uk/ All the guests enjoyed the photobooth - it was a huge hit in the evening!
Kylie says 'My favourite part of the day was the reception because I got to see all the people we love the most and it was nice to catch up with some we hadn’t seen for a while'. The couple have been together nearly 13 years engaged for 10. They met through mutual friends. Kylie was actually friends with Lee's brother before she met Lee. They have two beautiful daughters aged 8 and 6 called Millie and Maddison, who came to their pre wedding shoot and joined in. Together, they love family time and seeing extended family, including the grandparents, aunties and uncles & doing fun things altogether.
The couple say that when you’re planning your wedding, the biggest piece of advice they could give you is to enjoy every bit of the day it goes by so fast and not to stress about the little things , as it will all come together in the end. Kylie also says make sure you marry your best friend - she says 'I knew when I met lee I’d met my soul mate and he would be the one I’d spend the rest of my life with. He’s just amazing!'
Kylie and Lee’s wedding was everything I love about weddings and had such a fun atmosphere. Here’s a few images from their Batman-tastic Wedding
